“Radical Kaizen” is the result of indecision.
I have found that when faced with a problem, I have no trouble offering up solutions, but more often struggle to decide which solution is the “right” one. After 10 years of professional decision making (and 35 years of practice on the personal front), I have realized that I’m very inconsistent in my methods. At first, this would seem to be a disadvantage as I don’t follow a specific formula preached in a book or by a mildly successful pundit. But in reality, a pattern of inconsistent consistency has emerged that is Radical Kaizen.
Kaizen is the Japanese word adopted into English referring to a philosophy or practices focusing on continuous, incremental improvement. There are hundreds of examples of kaizen in business and life in general – but the basic premise is that by making small tweaks on a regular basis, you eventually reach perfection. I believe wholeheartedly in this approach – except when it doesn’t work.
Because the truth of the matter is that you can tweak and modify until you eventually have the house-that-Jack-built… and then what? Do you keep living in that house of unmatched furniture and seemingly random color selection where the walls fit together at 36 degree angles? No.
There are times in progress, in business, and in life when you stop and look around and realize that no amount of tweaking will ever solve your problem, or if it will, you will lose out on opportunities in the slow pace of progress. And so you do it. You make a radical change that solves your problem today.
This is the essence of Radical Kaizen.
I am a firm believer that there are many “right” answers, and success today requires a balanced approach to decision making. That balance comes from taking baby steps in the right direction – until you get to the edge of the cliff, and you just have to jump. Whether it be business acumen or personal development, Radical Kaizen is intended to provide a unique angle on topics related to innovation, progress, productivity, opportunity, and success.
East and West, fast and slow, yin and yang – Radical Kaizen provides a balanced fusion approach to personal and professional questions that concern us today. Welcome to www.radicalkaizen.com – I hope you find what you are looking for.
